Languages can definitely help unlock new markets. As Harvard Business Review points out, companies should speak to global customers in their language. What we don’t know for sure is if the higher language counts was something that helped these companies accelerate their growth and rankings. It’s possible that adding languages was a by-product of their global success.
This also doesn’t mean that every SaaS start-up that wants to become one of the biggest SaaS companies someday should go out and start localizing their software into every possible language. It’s important that all localization decisions be informed by international expansion strategies in order to be successful.
